This is a general pattern: for any geometric object, if the cost is tied to a linear dimension but the quantity you care about (like area or volume) grows faster than linearly, larger sizes can offer disproportionately better value. The underlying reason is that doubling a linear measure (like diameter) increases area by four times, not two, so price-to-area ratios shift as size increases unless prices are adjusted accordingly. This mismatch between how price and area scale is the heart of the problem class.
