When a problem imposes a strict ordering (such as increasing or decreasing), only those arrangements that match the specified sequence (and its reverse, if allowed) count as valid. This principle holds because the circle lacks a fixed starting point, so any arrangement and its rotations are considered the same, fundamentally changing the counting compared to linear arrangements.
